I am fascinated by light and how light affect the landscape and produces endless variations of atmospheric phenomena. I am interested in low light conditions that occur mostly early in the day and in winter when the light is most subtle and intense. Each day begins a little differently offering infinite variety in light and colour. Clouds, fog, rain, snow and sea smoke all produce varying levels of visibility from transparency to complete opacity. These are the elements of my environment and therefore of my work.

Since arriving in Nova Scotia, colour has become the main focus of my work in photography. Both, the Netherlands and Nova Scotia are coastal landscapes. The presence of large masses of water influences the quality and intensity of light in the landscape and I am particularly interested in capturing these manifestations of colour and light.
